Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley didn’t hold back in his self-assessment after missing a penalty in Saturday’s Glasgow Derby.

Despite the miss, Celtic secured a 2-1 victory over Rangers, putting them on the brink of clinching the Scottish Premiership title. The win extends their lead to six points with only two games remaining.
The penalty miss did lead to a nervy ending, but Celtic held on.
O’Riley, who was directly involved in the penalty decision after being fouled by Mohamed Diomande, watched as his spot-kick was saved by Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland. The moment came after a significant VAR check which confirmed the penalty but added pressure on the Celtic player.
Reflecting on the miss, O’Riley was brutally honest about his performance, stating live on Sky Sports, “Very important (result). Two games left, six points clear. Not much else to say. I think we made it a bit hard for ourselves again. I probably helped with that with a pretty s*** penalty.”
The match had its share of drama, intensified by John Lundstram’s first-half red card which left Rangers a man short for the majority of the game. Despite this advantage, Celtic struggled to capitalise fully with several missed opportunities.
This victory edges Celtic closer to the championship, needing just one point from their remaining fixtures to officially claim the title.
