MATT O’RILEY has insisted that Callum McGregor is more than capable of playing in the Premier League as he praised the Celtic captain.

McGregor has just returned from injury, but it’s like he never was away. He’s slotted back in perfectly and has picked up where he left off. He dominates the midfield and controls the game, linking the defence to the attack extremely well.
His quality is there for all to see, and his teammates notice it too. Speaking to Celtic TV looking ahead to St Johnstone, Matt O’Riley didn’t shy away from praising his captain, saying:
“First and foremost, he’s a very good player. He’s underappreciated; if you really understand football, you understand how good he is. What he brings on the pitch, his calmness on the ball and vocally, he’s very good at organising everybody.
“I agree [Callum McGregor is a top 4/6 Premier League player]. In another world, he probably would be playing in the Prem, if he took an opportunity in the past but you know ow how much he loves this club. I don’t think he’d ever leave it. I agree. I think he’s a top player who can easily play in the top 4/6”.
There really is no one better than Callum McGregor; he’ll go down as a club legend. He’ll have had many opportunities to prove himself down south in one of the best leagues in the world, but he’s opted to stay at his boyhood club. McGregor led Celtic to their first title under his leadership last season and is on course to do the same again this season.
