Ally McCoist has said that Matt O’Riley could slot right into Atletico Madrid if he is to make a move to the Metropolitano this summer.

In January, the Spanish side launched a bid for the Danish midfielder, but the fee submitted to Celtic wasn’t enough to tempt the Scottish champions into selling the player midseason, and this was never an option for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
This came after Celtic rejected a £10 million offer from Leeds for the Danish midfielder last summer.
O’Riley has been on fire this season, scoring 14 goals and setting up a further 16. After struggling for goals last season, he’s had n o problem finding the back of the net this term.
“He’s having an absolutely terrific season. He is a very, very good player,” McCoist told Tribal Football.
“There was talk of him leaving in January but Brendan Rodgers quite rightly said ‘he’s not going anywhere’. But I would be surprised if he’s there at the start of next season. I genuinely think he is capable of going to a place like Atletico Madrid and playing there.
“He is one of these players that always look as if he has time on hand. He’s very clever in that respect. Callum McGregor does it very well too, but Matt O’Riley has lovely composure.”
One thing that is for sure is that Matt O’Riley will have plenty of clubs looking at him this summer. He looks like a player who is destined to go on to big things, which, sadly for Celtic, won’t be in the SPFL.
