Southampton’s potential blockbuster move for Celtic’s star midfielder Matt O’Riley may be in jeopardy over salary disagreements, according to reports from The Daily Echo.

The Saints had prepared a £20 million bid, potentially rising to £25 million with add-ons, as they look to reunite O’Riley with his former MK Dons boss, Russell Martin.
Despite the significant transfer fee, negotiations have hit a stumbling block. The Daily Echo highlighted that O’Riley’s wage demands exceed what Southampton usually offers, casting doubts on the completion of the transfer.
The situation remains fluid, with a lot of negotiations required to bridge the gap between what O’Riley desires and what Southampton is willing to pay.
Atletico Madrid were also keen on the midfielder, and seem to be in the race with Southampton. Inter Milan, Roma and other Premier League clubs have also been credited with interest, but haven’t made the moves like Southampton and Atletico Madrid have.
