Brøndby striker Mathias Kvistgaarden has publicly admitted he’s ready to take the next step in his career, sparking further speculation about a potential move to Celtic.

The 22-year-old Dane has been heavily linked with a switch to Parkhead in recent years, with links never seeming to do away.

Kvistgaarden has already made it clear that he is eager to leave the Danish Superliga in the near future. When asked last month if he was ready for a move abroad, the highly-rated forward didn’t hesitate. He told Danish media, via RecordSport:

“100 percent, and as soon as possible. Now it’s starting to be time. I’ve said for many years that I’m happy to be in Brøndby, and that I don’t mind being in Brøndby, but now I’m starting to find myself in a situation where I want to go out and try something different. My plan is for it to be this summer.”

However, the timeline of any potential move to Celtic could be impacted by the uncertain future of Kyogo Furuhashi, who has been linked with moves away from Glasgow.

Kyogo has been linked with Atlanta United in the MLS and, more recently, Stade Rennais in France. While Atlanta’s interest appears to have cooled after pursuing other targets, reports from France suggest that the Ligue 1 side are exploring a move for Celtic’s talismanic Japanese forward.

As it stands, Celtic remain firm in their stance to hold on to Kyogo, especially with the club still competing for silverware on multiple fronts and pushing to secure qualification for the Champions League knockout stage. However, should a significant bid materialise in January, the Hoops may need to act quickly to secure a replacement—and Kvistgaarden appears to be high on their list of targets.

Celtic have already made contact with Brøndby regarding Kvistgaarden. While a move in January may depend on Kyogo’s future, the Danish forward appears to be an ideal long-term target for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
