LEIGH GRIFFITHS claims it would have been a massive loss in the summer if his team-mate Tom Rogic had left the club.
There was a bid from an unnamed side in Qatar and many Celtic supporters were worried we’d seen the last of the Australian in a Celtic shirt. Ultimately, Tom decided not to make the move, even though Celtic had accepted an offer for his services.
Since then, Tom has slowly got himself back into the team and has proved pivotal in unlocking stubborn defences in recent times.
The thought of not having him in the squad right now seems unfathomable. The midfielder seems back to his best and is contributing to the team well.
Leigh pointed it out in this week’s Celtic view, it would have been a big blow to the moral of the dressing room as well as on the pitch. Tom has become a central figure in the Celtic setup and to lose someone so influential would have had a negative effect.
“If he’d left the club in the summer he’d have been a massive loss to Celtic on the pitch, obviously, but he’d have been a massive loss to the boys in the dressing room as well.” Leigh told the Celtic View.
“He’s a big character in there, he goes about his business pretty quietly, but he’s always involved and always has been during my time here at the club.
“He’d have been a massive loss, but thankfully we’ve managed to keep a hold of him.
“The impact he’s made over the course of the last few games has been brilliant.”
Leigh is also starting to get game time again after starting the season unfit after lockdown.
It’s imperative all the Celtic players who have contributed to our recent success are up to speed and ready to fight for the cause in the coming days and weeks as we look to pull back points in the league.
