Martin O’Neill In Ibrox ‘Paranoia’ Claim

Celtic take on Rangers this weekend in the Scottish Cup semi finals as Ange Postecoglou looks to take a colossal step towards a domestic treble.

So far this season, Celtic are unbeaten against their city rivals and in most Glasgow derbies so far this season, there has been a wealth of controversy regarding certain decisions.

That was no different in the Bhoys’ 3-2 victory at Parkhead at the beginning of April as Alfredo Morelos pushed Alistair Johnston in the lead up to a disallowed goal.

Now, former Celtic manager Martin O’Neill has said that the ‘paranoia’ Rangers have taken on after the disallowed goal is only positive for the Hoops (Glasgow Times):

“I left paranoia behind some time ago, it must be starting again! It was good to see from a Celtic viewpoint that Rangers are now taking it on after that disallowed goal.”

Moreover, O’Neill sarcastically quipped that there is no conspiracy after Celtic were given two successive away matches in the first two games after the split:

“Celtic start off after the break with two away games, hmm, do you feel as if there is a conspiracy theory there?

“It is what it is, if you are going to win a league I don’t think it matters what week it happens to be.”

Despite what O’Neill says here, everyone involved with Celtic would agree that it would be better if the Bhoys were able to win the league at Parkhead in front of 60,000 fans although that cannot be the case.

When the Hoops win the league is outwith the club’s control and Ange Postecoglou and his players will just have to wait until the 20th of May to get the adoration of the Celtic faithful as champions.
