Callum McGregor Reveals Shock Ibrox Pick

CALLUM MCGREGOR has shocked fans by telling them who he voted for in the PFA player of the year awards. The Celtic midfielder has made the shortlist alongside James Forrest, Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent.

The award, which is voted on by fellow professionals in the league means Callum got to cast his vote too on who he thought was player of the year and he went for a choice not many Celtic fans will like.

“I voted for Allan McGregor. I think he has been outstanding.” he told SunSport.

“There were so many moments, especially towards the start of the season, where he kept Rangers in games in Europe at times with massive saves.

“In the first Old Firm match this season Allan was outstanding, he really kept the score down that day as well. So I think his experience has been massive for Rangers and bringing their team together.

“When they have had a wee wobble he’s been there as the experienced one.

“I don’t know really what the perception of my vote will be, but you can only be fair and recognise talent.

“If someone has had a good season, I don’t see why you shouldn’t vote for them.”

Alan McGregor has been a top player for them but his temperament and the fact he’s lashed out several times this season – once against Kristoffer Ajer means he wasn’t going to get many Celtic players vote.

Callum McGregor and the other three on the shortlist will all be subject to a new vote between their fellow professionals to see who will win the player of the year. Maybe that was his way of trying to canvas some votes from the Ibrox club.

The Celtic star has already won Celtic’s player of the year and Celtic fans player of the year. James Forrest is yet to be recognised for his achievements this season and it would be great to see the wee man bag the PFA award.
