Manchester United Legend Raves About Henrik Larsson’s ‘Impact’ at Old Trafford

Celtic icon Henrik Larsson has been hailed by a former Manchester United legend for his contributions during his time at the Red Devils.

Larsson joined Manchester United in January 2007 on a two-and-a-half-month loan from Helsingborgs. At 35, the Swedish striker was nearing the twilight of his career; however, this did not affect his ability in training, which, in particular, stood out to the former United midfielder.

Paul Scholes, who spent 21 years at Manchester United playing alongside the likes of Ruud van Nistelrooy, Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Eric Cantona, however, noted that Larsson stood out, with the Englishman hailing him during his short spell in Manchester.

Scholes said: (The Overlap), “I think, as far as January signings, good or bad, I always think of the Patrice Evra one,” said Scholes. “At the time, he didn’t look great. I think Manchester City was his debut and he had an absolute nightmare (hooked off at half-time).

“I can’t remember if Henrik Larsson was in the January window as well. I know he didn’t score loads of goals, but he had a real impact because we were struggling at centre-forward.

“In training, especially, phowww. When you see a forward, you think, okay he was coming towards the end of his career a little bit, but you think ‘how good he must have been five or six years ago and what he did at Celtic and other clubs’.”

Scholes gave some credit to Larsson; however, anyone who watched the Swede at Celtic knows just how truly special a striker he was.

With Kyogo recently leaving the Hoops, the barometer for a striker in recent years has become: who is the best forward since Larsson? That shows the impact the Swede made during his time in Glasgow.

With 242 goals in 313 games for Celtic, four league titles, two Scottish Cups, and two League Cups, Larsson’s legacy at the Hoops speaks for itself.
