Manchester City youth coach and once reported Celtic managerial candidate Enzo Maresca has been appointed as the new manager of Parma.

Maresca was being touted as a possible option for the Hoops job around March time with many thinking it would be interesting, outside the box appointment to give the Italian the job.

He has had an impressive term at City as under 23s coach, romping to a League title victory down south and also received heavy praise from manager Pep Guardiola.

With Celtic’s connections to the English Premier League side, this appointment didn’t feel like it was out of the realms of possibility.

However, both Maresca and Celtic are now headed down different paths with the former Juventus midfielder going back to his homeland and the Hoops looking like we are getting closer to securing the services of Eddie Howe.

It will be interesting to see the sort of job Maresca does with a club like Parma and what he goes on to do in his managerial career in the future.
