CELTIC are set to take on Italian giants AC Milan this evening, however, there was a scenario this summer where one of our own could have been lining up against us.
Kristoffer Ajer was heavily linked with a move to Milan since March this year but as the transfer window headed for its conclusion, he stayed put.
As the two sides get prepared for battle this evening, the Milan manager confirmed they were tracking Ajer in the last window:
“Yes, we did follow him in the summer.” Stefano Pioli told SunSport.
“But I am really happy with the squad we have got. I have a lot of players in that position and I am happy with that.”
Ajer came in as an attacking midfielder and now he’s playing his trade at centre back. With his contract coming into the final 18 months in January, there could be movement or a deal next summer for the Norway International to get his move.
Right now, it’s all about what Kris can do for the team and we hope he shows why Milan were interested in him by putting on a top performance against them at Celtic Park.
