Major Update on Fans Returning

In the last year or so, Scotland’s National Clinical Director Jason Leitch has become a familiar name to those across Scottish Football.

He has played a big role during the national pandemic and has spoken several times on BBC Scotland’s Off the Ball with updates on the return of fans.

Today, he has given a positive update that will likely excite fans saying that he thinks there will be fans in grounds by the start of next season.

“With a fair wind, if the numbers keep going in the right direction, and we don’t go crazy, yes.

“I think there will be fans at the opening of the new season.

“The big unknown for now, is physical distancing. What are we going to do with physical distancing in September, or December? When you start to reduce physical distancing, you’ve got to have the virus almost eliminated in your country to make it safe.”

It has been an incredibly tough year for everyone across the country, giving up so much due to the pandemic. So, it is nice to hear a positive update for a change with it being so long since we have seen fans back inside Celtic Park.

Our first glimpse in Scotland of supporters in grounds will come in June when the Euros comes to town and three games are being played out in front of spectators.

With restrictions easing up, fingers crossed it isn’t too long before we get to watch live football in person again.
