Maeda Hat-Trick As Celtic Thrash Aberdeen 6-0 to Book Premier Sports Cup Final Spot

Celtic comfortably booked their place in the Premier Sports Cup Final with a 6-0 win over Aberdeen at Hampden.

The game would be delayed by 15 minutes due to pyrotechnics from smoke, meaning that referee Kevin Clancy had to wait for the smoke to die down so that VAR could monitor the game.

A closely contested first half hour saw Celtic slightly edge the game.

However, Kyogo Furuhashi would win Celtic a corner in the 29th minute, with a trademark, well-taken delivery from Arne Engels.

Cameron Carter-Vickers would head the ball home to give the Hoops the lead.

It wouldn’t be long before Celtic added to their lead after Daizen Maeda slipped the ball to Kyogo in the box, who blasted it off the crossbar and into the net.

Unbelievably, Celtic would go 3-0 up eight minutes later, with Maeda slipping the ball past Dimitar Mitov.

The second half would begin just as the first ended, with Nicolas Kuhn driving through the Aberdeen defence but being unable to slip the ball past Mitov.

The ball fell to Maeda, who rifled it into the net for his second of the game.

Kuhn would, however, get his goal with an unbelievable curled effort into the top left corner, with a typical winger’s goal, cutting inside onto his stronger foot 10 minutes later.

That wouldn’t be it for Celtic though, after substitute Paulo Bernardo played a wonderful through ball to the overlapping Alistair Johnston, who found Maeda at the back for a tap-in to seal his well-deserved hat trick in the 85th minute.

Celtic will play the winner of Motherwell or Rangers tomorrow in the final on December 15th.
