Luke McCowan says he is determined to thrive amid a hectic run of fixtures and stake his claim for a starting place in the Celtic XI.
With back-to-back games looming, Falkirk in the Premier Sports Cup and Kairat Almaty in the UEFA Champions League play-off, McCowan knows the demands on the squad will be significant.
The competition across the squad is heating up, and every player will need to be ready when called upon. McCowan is keen to show the manager he can make his mark.
Travel and fixture congestion are set to test Celtic’s depth, but McCowan is embracing the challenge and sees it as a perfect opportunity to push for regular action.
He said: (Celtic FC YouTube), “This is the time that the manager goes on about it being a squad game.
“The squad is needed with the amount of games we play.
“Obviously, we’re travelling to places like Kazakhstan, which is hours away, so you need your squad of players.
“It is just about being ready when you’re called upon and making an impact.”
McCowan’s focus on being ready when his number is called reflects the professional mindset needed during such a fixture-heavy spell.
His mention of distant trips, such as to Kazakhstan, highlights the physical and mental resilience required at this stage of the season.

If he performs when given the chance, McCowan could force his way into Brendan Rodgers’ preferred XI, particularly if injuries or rotation come into play.
This busy period could be precisely the platform McCowan needs to prove his worth and secure more starts alongside established names in the squad.
