The midfielder was given a baptism of fire at Parkhead but dealt with it amicably, and didn’t look out of place.

Callum McGregor helped the 26-year-old through his debut, who admitted it was the ‘stuff of dreams’ post-match.

Now that he has gone through the formalities of signing for Celtic and made his bow, McCowan will want to kick on and fight for a place in the team.

He is already proven in the Scottish Premiership, having stood out for Dundee over the past few seasons.

McCowan was the Dees’ captain and talisman, and many of their fans were left gutted when he departed.

After a whirlwind few days, though, he eventually took to Instagram to address them, putting up an emotional post, thanking the club and its supporters for everything:

Now with the Scottish champions, McCowan will look to push on and become a key contributor this season.

Brendan Rodgers has high hopes for him, and he has already become somewhat of a fan favourite, given he is a boyhood Celtic supporter.

McCowan’s debut was promising, but he will look to truly show what he can do when he gets more minutes.
