Luis Palma’s Dad ‘So Proud’ After Winger Scores First Champions League Goal

Celtic winger Luis Palma scored a long-awaited Champions League goal against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday evening. It was a strike that made his Father’s heart burst with pride.

He was painstakingly denied against Lazio, but Palma finally got off the mark on Wednesday. His Dad has now revealed that he told his son to put the match in the hands of God. He said (Daily Record): “I said to him to put this game in God’s hands and that I and his mother were going to keep him in our prayers. He was anxious and I advised him that he had to control his emotions because he is a high-quality player. I feel so proud of my son.”

It was an emotional moment for the Honduran internationalist’s old man who cried tears of happiness when the ball hit the back of the net. He stated: “The truth is, yes there were tears from us when he scored. I’m impressed with everything he did in the game. He is working so hard right now.”

At Parkhead, the 23-year-old is rapidly becoming a favourite among the supporters. Palma has a distinct aura about him and it is likely his Father will continually be crying as his son’s time in Glasgow plays out because it is certain he will have many more moments like Wednesday’s.
