Celtic look set to miss out on another long-linked target, with reports in the Netherlands claiming that 21-year-old winger Orjasaeter is on the verge of joining FC Twente.
The Norwegian has been on Celtic’s radar since the January window, but no formal approach has ever materialised. According to De Telegraaf, Twente are closing in on a deal worth around €5m (£4.5m), which would make him their second-most expensive signing since their return to the Eredivisie in 2019.
Celtic’s lack of width remains a glaring issue. The champions currently have just three recognised wingers to cover two positions, and with the Champions League play-off round looming, Brendan Rodgers is still waiting for reinforcements in a key area of the pitch.

Speaking on Friday, the Celtic manager admitted there was “no news” on new arrivals and suggested he wasn’t expecting any fresh faces in time for next week’s European qualifiers.
“I really don’t know. That’s my honest answer. We just have to keep working to look to get the players in and in the meantime work with the players that are here to make them the best that they can be.”
That leaves Rodgers to work with the current squad for a vital period in the season – including the possibility of a gruelling 7,000-mile round trip to Kazakhstan should Kairat see off Slovan Bratislava in their third-round tie.
Orjasaeter’s move to Twente adds to the growing list of wide players linked to Celtic who have gone elsewhere this summer.
