Loan Celt Sees Red – Celtic Future Looks Bleak

Jonathon Afolabi was shown a red card in the 75th minute after being subbed on in the 59th minute. The official Ayr United Twitter account described his tackle as “rash”.

There are now only 19 players on the park, with there being a further two dismissals. the referee blew his final whistle with Raith Rovers coming out victorious, both of their goals came in the first half.

Afolabi has failed to make an impression at Ayr United as of yet. Making three appearances, he is still to register a goal or an assist.

The Irish Under 21 player joined Celtic from Southampton on a free transfer in 2019, six months later he was sent to Dunfermline on loan.

The next summer he joined then Championship side Dundee on loan where he struggled for significant game time and goals.

This year he was sent on another loan spell, this time he joined Raith Rovers but fans are already on his back and this red card will not help his cause.

With all these loan spells it looks unlikely he will have a future at Celtic, and will most likely be added to the list of ‘wasted talent’.
