Lisbon Lion Hails ‘Outstanding’ Kyogo

Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi has been the receiver of a wealth of praise for what he has achieved in Glasgow so far and the latest to talk him up is one of the biggest who have done so.

Lisbon Lion Willie Wallace has been full of acclaim for Kyogo, indeed comparing him to Jimmy Johnstone:

“When I first saw Kyogo, I thought he would be a Jinky-type forward.

“He’s small, quick, full of skill and he can finish, too. He’s been outstanding for Ange and Celtic.”

Wallace knows a thing or two about scoring having netted a colossal 140 goals in 239 Celtic appearances and has said how Kyogo being among those who have bagged 50 in green and white would be greatly justified (the Japanese currently has 49):

Kyogo hasn’t taken long to get to that 50 mark and he deserves to join all the great players in doing that.”

Wallace also praised the 28-year-old’s skillset:

Kyogo’s movement is excellent around the box. He finished off the cutback really well for the first and then he was sharp for the second. That shows he is an all round striker.”

Kyogo receiving praise from a striker who played in the best and most successful Celtic team in history is a testament to his top quality but at the same time, it is not unexpected.

The Japanese has done nothing but excel at Parkhead up to this point with Wallace quipping how it is nice to see Kyogo carrying on the dynasty of the number eight, a shirt he wore in his five years at the club:

“Celtic have had some really good players wear that number eight strip down the years. I think of guys like Paul McStay and Scott Brown, two big figures in the club’s history.

“Now Kyogo has that number eight shirt and while I don’t know the reason behind that, I am happy to see him doing it proud.”

Similarly to all Celtic fans, Willie Wallace has been greatly impressed by Kyogo in his time in Scotland so far.

Whether it be through the continuous hard work he puts in or his fine goal scoring ability, the Japanese international never fails to capture the imagination.
