Liel Abada’s Celtic Contract Situation

LIEL ABADA has been used more as a squad player than a first team star this season. The Celtic manager has used Jota and Maeda whenever possible on both flanks.

Abada had a storming first season for the club, this season, he’s had to wait for his opportunities and take them when they’ve come his way.

The Israeli has still made 37 appearances in all competitions with 21 coming from the bench.

Celtic have been proactive trying to sign their biggest assets up to new deals in recent times. It led to both Giorgos Giakoumakis and Josip Juranovic leaving in January. Neither player could come to terms on a new deal and the bhoys believes they could get the best deal for both players in January.

A similar fate will await anyone who looks like they want to run down their deal to a point Celtic aren’t in control. After Seeing Edouard and Ajer do it before they left the club, the Hoops are making sure they don’t leave money on the table.

That being said – Israel boss Alon Hazan mentioned Liel’s situation and let the cat out of the bag that the winger ‘didn’t want’ to extend his current Celtic deal.

“He may not be playing as much as last season, but he is still playing.” he told Sun Sport.

“Maybe his situation is because he didn’t want to extend his contract, but he is still in the squad and being rotated.”

Liel still has three years to run on his deal and there’s still time for the two parties to ge ta deal done. If not, Ange has been aggressive in his selling and recruitment. The Australian will have knowledge of any player who could be leaving in the next 12 to 18 months and plans will already be getting made for replacements.
