Liel Abada Meets Up with Celtic Star Stateside

Former Celtic teammates Alistair Johnston and Liel Abada recently reconnected, a moment warmly received by Celtic fans.

Johnston, currently representing Canada in the Copa America, took a brief moment from his busy schedule to meet up with Abada, who has been living in the United States since in March of this year.

Johnston’s run with Canada in the Copa America has been remarkable. The team reached the semifinals but was defeated in the end by Lionel Messi’s Argentina. Despite this, Johnston and his team will play one more match on Saturday to compete for a third-place finish. Afterward, Johnston plans to take a short break before rejoining Celtic.

Abada, who moved to Charlotte earlier this year, left Celtic amidst significant pressure from the Israeli FA due to Celtic fans vocal support of Palestine. It’s important to note that Celtic as a club fully supported Abada during his time with the team, and his departure was not due to any internal pressure from the club or fanbase.

Abada penning an emotional goodbye back in March thanking everyone for his time at Celtic.

This reunion between Johnston and Abada highlights the strong bonds formed at Celtic. Despite their careers taking different paths, their friendship remains strong.
