Wigan Athletic are reportedly closing in on the signing of Celtic midfielder Liam Shaw, marking the latest development in the player’s career. [WiganToday]

Shaw, who joined Celtic on a pre-contract deal during Neil Lennon’s tenure, has struggled to secure regular playing time at the club and is now set to embark on a new chapter in his career.
Shaw’s arrival at Celtic coincided with the end of Lennon’s time in charge, a period marked by the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, and all that happened at the club that season.
Under Lennon’s successor, Ange Postecoglou, Shaw found opportunities limited and spent the second half of his first season on loan at Motherwell. Last season, he was loaned out to Morecambe, who suffered relegation to League Two.
Now, a move to Wigan Athletic appears to be on the cards for the young midfielder. The Latics, who have shown a keen interest in nurturing young talent, could provide Shaw with the platform he needs to develop his game and gain valuable first-team experience.
At Wigan, Shaw will be joining former Celtic academy star Liam Morrison, who is currently on loan from Bayern Munich.
