Liam Scales Provides Surprising Contract Update

Celtic defender Liam Scales has provided an update regarding his contractual situation at the club. The Irishman was recently put in front of the media ahead of Saturday’s clash with Ross County and spoke out on the situation.

Although manager Brendan Rodgers previously stated at the beginning of the month that the club were engaging in talks with Scales’ representatives, when asked about the situation, the player said he has heard nothing over a new deal as of yet: “There’s been nothing really”, he stated (Celtic FC on YouTube).

“I’m sure that if it happens my agent will be dealing with that and I’ll be playing my games.”

The 25-year-old’s current deal with the Scottish champions runs until the summer of 2025. He still has just under a year and a half remaining on his contract but given his recent run in the team in the first half of the current campaign, Scales should undoubtedly be in line for improved financial terms.

In addition, gaffer Rodgers will be keen to tie down someone, who has been a key player for him in his second spell in Glasgow, on a long-term basis.

Despite this speculation, the former Aberdeen loanee will be focusing purely on his football. Doing so has undoubtedly benefitted him on the pitch this season, with Scales’ game taking a positive upturn much for the better.

He has been one of the Hoops’ standout players in 2023/24, and arguably their best defender. The Irish international continues to add to his stock week in and week out, and he would certainly bite at the opportunity to sign on for an improved deal at Parkhead.
