Liam Scales Comments on Ibrox Stadium Fiasco

Celtic defender Liam Scales has commented on Rangers’ stadium fiasco, admitting that while it won’t change much for the Hoops, it could for their arch-rivals.

The Irish centre-half wasn’t involved in Friday evening’s friendly draw with Ayr United, but will likely come back into the fray for Wednesday’s clash with Queen’s Park.

While he was criticised by several Celtic supporters for several aspects of his performances last season, there is no denying that Scales stepped up when it mattered for his side.

He never backed down and always gave his all. The 25-year-old was continually available when others weren’t.

Despite Celtic being linked with some centre-backs already this summer, the Ireland international will be keen to keep his place in the team next campaign.

Following a domestic double in his first season playing consistently for Celtic, Scales is hungry for more and recently admitted that his side’s title rivals may be at a slight disadvantage at the start of the new term due to their stadium issues.

Indeed, it doesn’t look like Rangers will be playing their first few games of 2024/25 at Ibrox.

“I don’t think it changes much for us”, said Scales (The National).

“It might change a bit for them. All we want to do is win every game. That’s always been the case.

“If we focus on that then whatever happens outside doesn’t matter. It might change certain things for them, who knows? But our focus will be on us.”

Celtic kick-off their league season in four weeks as Kilmarnock come to Parkhead on Flag Day.

An unusual kick-off time of 4.30 pm is set as the Bhoys look to get off to the perfect start.
