Celtic are continuing to monitor Motherwell’s standout star Lennon Miller ahead of a potential summer move according to Scott Burns of RecordSport.
The Hoops had already made an approach in the final days of the January transfer window but were rebuffed by the Steelmen, who had no intention of letting one of their prized assets leave at such a late stage.
At the time Miller was also recovering from injury which complicated any type of January exit.
According to the same report, despite the initial rejection, Celtic have not been deterred. Scouts have been filing regular reports on the Scotland under-21 international, with Brendan Rodgers’ side viewing him as a top domestic prospect.
Motherwell have already fended off interest from abroad, rejecting bids from Udinese and Union St-Gilloise in January. Their stance remains firm—they are in no rush to sell and will only entertain offers that match their valuation.
Celtic’s midfield remains an interesting area heading into the summer window. With Callum McGregor still the heartbeat of the team, Arne Engels expected to play a key role next term, and the likes of Paulo Bernardo and Luke McCowan providing further options, Rodgers will need to assess whether Miller can add to the squad’s depth or if immediate first-team opportunities would be limited.
There is a feeling that Reo Hatate could be the player with itchy feet this summer if the right club was interested in taking him away from Glasgow.
It is worth noting that Celtic are scouting a lot of players across Europe and Miller is just one of them.
Before we get to the summer window there is a small matter of wrapping up the league title and a potential treble with Celtic taking on Hibs in the quarter final of the Scottish Cup this weekend.
