NEIL LENNON has confirmed there has been NO CONTACT as of yet for midfielder Tom Rogic after reports over the weekend suggested Zenit St Petersburg were set to test the boards resolve.
The report by reputable Journo, Alison McConnell suggested the Russian club were going to make their move for the Australian at some point this week but nothing has come of it yet according to Lennon.
“I haven’t heard anything and there’s been no enquiries. It’s just speculation at the moment as far as I’m concerned.” he told RecordSport.
“He is a good player and I want to keep all of my good players.|”
The Celtic manager did confirm the player is close to a return to action after coming back to pre-season injured.
“He’s not fit yet but hopefully he’ll join the group at some stage next week.”
Tom had a forgettable season last term with injury hampering his form along with a trip to the Asian Cup halfway through the season.
Celtic fans are split over the player’s future but there will be nothing to decide if no bid are forthcoming. The Australian has another four years on his current Celtic deal after showing his loyalty last summer by signing a five-year deal at the time.
If Rogic can stay fit, he’s an invaluable asset. Injured and unfit he’s no use to anyone regardless of the talent he possesses.
