Leipzig Stars Take Dig at ‘Unfair’ Loss and ‘Basic’ Celtic

It has nearly been a week since Celtic’s fantastic win over Leipzig in the Europa League.

The fighting spirit, determination and imagination got Celtic all three points on a night not soon to be forgot at Parkhead.

However, try telling that to the Leipzig stars who have since told us Celtic got ‘lucky’, insisting their side should have won the game.

“Our defeat was needless and unfair. We were clearly the better side, and dominated the game.” blasted Leipzig star Marcel Sabitzer as cited on Sunsport.

“We had 20 attempts [They only had 16], but scored just once – and paid the price.

“Despite several absences, we had enough quality on the pitch. If you look back at the second half you’ll see we should have turned the result around.”

Leipzig looked more menacing late in the second half when they managed to score but as soon as they did Celtic found another gear and scored straight from kick off.

Some of the Leipzig stars admitted the atmosphere got to them in the game.

On the night, 60,000 Celtic fans roared and the new disco lights added a special feel in the lead up the game.

The whole stadium was rocking and when the second goal went in the noise got even louder!

But according to defender Konrad Laimer it should never have happened: “Celtic’s second goal was far too easy. We were all too slow to react.

“Then they saw the game out playing basic football. This shouldn’t happen to us, and we have to put it out of our minds.”

Celtic and Leipzig are on six points each at the moment and either still have a good chance of getting to the knockout stage.

Up next for Celtic it’s Rosenborg, a ground they’ve already played at this season already.

Can the bhoys get an elusive away day win to pile on the pressure?
