This act put fans at risk, and the seriousness of the action could have resulted in a jail sentence of up to 12 months.
However, when he appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court, he avoided incarceration. Instead, he was fined £1,000, a reduction from an initial £1,500 due to his early guilty plea.
Griffiths had previously faced financial repercussions from the club, with Dundee and Celtic docking him two weeks’ wages, amounting to £15,000, following the incident.
It was also revealed in court that Griffiths, who is now playing with Australian side Mandurah City, has not been receiving wages from the club. This is due to a visa issue that was pending the outcome of this case.
Now that the case has been resolved, it remains to be seen how this will impact his situation in Australia.
