Leicester Confirm ‘Possibility’ of Celtic Landing £13million Defender

Leicester manager Claude Puel has refused to rule out his new signing Filip Benkovic going out on loan before the window closes.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of the weekends game, Puel was asked about the speculation linking their £13million man with a loan move and this is what he had to say.

“What I can say about Filip is, we will see if he has a possibility to go out on loan. But, I’m happy to have this player because he’s talented. We want to continue to develop him, but we have a lot of centre backs”

Celtic have been long time admirers of Filip but had been priced out of a move for the player some time ago while he was at Zagreb.

The defender made the Premier League switch this summer and signed a five-year deal with the former English Premier League Champions.

However, it’s unlikely he will feature much this season and Leicester look very open to the defender getting serious game time.

Celtic are desperate to land a centre back before the transfer window closes and while they would like a permanent deal, having Benkovic for a season would certainly be a worthwhile exercise and perhaps let Dedryk Boyata get his move away from the club.

It’s been a busy day at Celtic Park with Yussuf Mulumbu set to sign for the club shortly.
