Legendary Maldini Praises ‘Extraordinary’ Celtic Support

Paolo Maldini has praised Celtic fans during an interview about the Milan/Juventus game.

Unsolicited, the centre-back spoke about Milan going to Glasgow in the Europa League last year.

He told the players it was a shame they didn’t get to play in-front of a Parkhead crowd even though it would have given Celtic an advantage in the night.

“It’s Milan vs Juventus without an audience, all my greatest memories are tied to the participation of the fans.” Maldini told Sky Italia as cited by RecordSport.

“It’s a less emotional and exciting kind of football.

“In Glasgow we played without fans and it was an advantage for us, but I told the lads it was a shame for them to play at Celtic Park without that extraordinary support.”

The legendary defender has played at Celtic Park in a packed house and has previous for praising this Celtic support.

Paolo was blown away by the atmosphere and is clearly still a big memory for the Milan legend.

Milan and Celtic have played each other several times over the last 30 years from Champions League group stage, to the last 16 and recently the Europa.

Celtic once took the Italian’s to extra time in the last 16 and it took a moment of magic from Brazilian Kaka knocked Celtic out and denied them a quarter final place. We seem a long way from there nowadays.
