League Cup Prize Money to Reach Record Levels

The prize money for this year’s Premier Sports Cup has reached a record high, with clubs set to benefit from the increased financial rewards on offer.

The League Cup reverted back to its previous branding after being called the Viaplay Cup for two seasons

The SPFL has announced that a total of £3.5 million will be distributed among the participating clubs, marking a 14% increase from the previous year’s competition.

The champions of the 2024/25 season will earn £400,000, while the runners-up will receive £200,000. Additionally, the prize money will be allocated down to the teams eliminated in the group stages. [Football Scotland]

The group stages are scheduled to commence on the weekend of July 13/14, 2024, with the draw set to take place on May 29.

The competition will culminate with the final on December 15.

Celtic will look to be at the final next season, crashing out of the cup in the early stages this term against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.
