LAZIO goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha has told the media in Italy that Lazio’s results in the competition are a lie and they don’t take into account how well they’ve played.
There’s no doubt Lazio have the quality but there’s no acceptance by their players that Celtic also had the quality to come from behind against them not once but twice in two separate games.
Celtic outplayed the Italian club on their own turf for most of the second half, yes, Fraser Forster came up big again but Celtic could have been in-front well before they were.
Yet, the goalkeeper wants to spin the narrative that Celtic got lucky.
“The results in the Europa League lie. By that I mean, they don’t reflect on how well we have played.” Strakosha told Italian press as cited by SunSport.
“Of course we should have done better in the competition, but the scores don’t tell the whole story.
“All we can do to make up for it is to try and finish as high as we can in Serie A.”
Celtic qualified for the knockout round of the competition with two games to spare as a result of beating Lazio home and away. The Italian club need to win their next two games in the competition and hope Celtic do them a favour against Cluj.
