Laxalt Glasgow Bound: Major UEFA Issue to be Discussed

The loan deal for Diego Laxalt should be pretty straight forward. However, there is one sketchy part of the deal which will likely be discussed between both parties this evening.

Celtic and Milan will do battle in the Europa League but unlike domestic loan deals, UEFA will not allow clubs to put restrictions on another team they’re coming up against in European competition. This means Laxalt would be allowed to play against his parent club, just like Patrick Robert’s did against Man City and just like Mo Bangura did against Celtic for Stockholm.

Could there be a gentleman’s agreement in place for the two ties. This would stray into a little bit of sketchy territory, because in essence Milan would be influencing an opposition side in the eyes of UEFA even if Celtic do agree not to play the 27-year-old.

The player is in London and is expected in Glasgow this evening according to Sky Sports Journalist Anthony Jospeh.
