Celtic have warned any suitors for Odsonne Edouard this summer are not welcome with it being reported the club are not even willing to give clubs a price for the Frenchman with ten in a row at stake.
Newcastle have been interested in the Celtic hitman as well as Leciester but Magpies boss Steve Bruce confirmed Celtic’s stubborn stance which will delight Celtic fans.
“I don’t think he’ll leave. I’ve got it on pretty good authority that I don’t think he’s going to go anywhere.” Bruce told Football Insider as cited by Mail Sport.
“Celtic have really dug their heels in, totally, by all accounts people can’t even get a price for him. If they can keep him, which they’re digging their heels in to try and keep him, it would be fantastic for Celtic.
“They’ll want to go and do well and Europe and cement that 10-in-a-row that they’re desperate to do this season. Apparently all the players you might think might be of interest to other clubs.”
The striker is down to the last two years of his Celtic contract with many supporters anxious the club might get an offer they can’t refuse. It’s very encouraging to hear they’re just outright ignoring interest in Edouard.
The striker will move on eventually but during our ten in a row season would be a massive blow to the team and support.
Hopefully, Celtic can work out a new deal with the striker and he can stay at the club in full knowledge the club can get top dollar for him next summer or beyond.
