Latest: Celtic Close to Duff Replacement

Neil Lennon has told Celtic fans that a replacement for Damien Duff should be in place by next week as the Irishman looks to replace his former coach.

Damien took up a post with the Irish FA to be closer to his family, an understandable thing to do. The coach revealed his time at Celtic had been one of the most fulfilling experiences of his career.

Now Duff has gone, he leaves a big hole to fill in the Celtic backroom staff. He was well-liked by the players and helped the youth stars out immensely.

With Celtic back at training, Neil Lennon is looking to sort out a replacement by next week, he told CelticTV:  “We’re hoping to have someone in place next week.”

The speculation is there for an outside hire to come in. A former Celtic player and coach like Johan Mjallby has been suggested but there could be a hire within the club with Stephen McManus currently coaching the youngsters at Lennoxtown and Darren O’Dea in charge of the under-18s. Both could take on the role if need be.
