La Liga Chief Drops Celtic-linked Transfer Clue

Bojan Miovski could find himself back on the move this summer, with Girona open to cutting ties after a difficult first year in La Liga. The North Macedonian striker, previously linked with Celtic, has struggled to make an impact in Spain following his switch from Aberdeen.

The 26-year-old was signed after a strong spell in the Scottish Premiership, but managed just two goals in the league across last season.

Girona’s faith in the attack has clearly lessened, and Miovski’s limited goals has left club bosses questioning the recruitment in the attack.

Girona sporting director Quique Cárcel hasn’t held back in assessing the club’s attacking issues, pointing to poor performances and financial concerns as reasons for reshaping the squad. The Spanish side are aiming to trim their wage bill and could look to offload players on sizeable contracts who haven’t lived up to expectations.

Miovski is believed to be keen on staying put and battling for his spot. However, with Girona ready to refresh their squad and clear out underperforming players, an exit could be on the cards, potentially opening the door for Celtic to rekindle interest.

Cárcel said: (Mundo Deportivo), “I think there have been reinforcements in certain positions that haven’t worked out.

“For example, I’m not happy with the eight goals the forwards have scored , although we’ve already had difficulties since pre-season.

“The salary of the club will be reduced, and not having finished in a higher position also worsens the budge and makes it difficult to remove high-level earning players.”

Miovski made a strong impression during his time at Aberdeen, scoring 44 goals in 98 games. That kind of form suggests he could be a good fit for Celtic if the club decide to go for him.

Brendan Rodgers is still looking to strengthen the attack, especially with Celtic yet to sign a Kyogo replacement.

Miovski is under contract at Girona until 2028, so it wouldn’t be a cheap deal. But with the Spanish side ready to make changes and Miovski not getting regular minutes, there could be a chance to do business.

If Miovski is open to a return to Scotland, Celtic might be in a good position to move, especially now that Girona are willing to listen to offers.
