Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi scored one of the greatest Glasgow derby goals of all time just before the turning of the year. After receiving the ball from Matt O’Riley just outside the opposition box, the Japanese frontman unleashed a venomous effort into the top-right corner.
The home support went into an equal sense of disbelief and celebration when the ball hit the back of the net. Rightfully, the strike was nominated for the SPFL’s December Goal of the Month award.

Surprisingly, however, it was beaten to the title by Arbroath’s second-choice goalkeeper. From halfway inside the opposition territory, Ali Adams struck the ball on the volley into the roof of the net:

Although Kyogo may be disappointed not to win the award, he was beaten by a worthy winner. Perhaps the fact Adams is a ‘keeper helped him beat the 28-year-old, but his finish was tremendous nonetheless.
That should not take anything away from the Japanese centre-forward’s goal, though. In a derby of Glasgow’s calibre, to net in the nature Kyogo did was truly breathtaking. His finish will be remembered for years to come.
