Kyogo’s Confidence

KYOGO FURUHASHI was struggling for confidence on Wednesday night, with his poor finishing frustrating him.

The manager encouraged Kyogo to celebrate with the fans after full-time, with the striker taking a back seat in the celebrations. Postecoglou clearly has no concerns with the striker’s form, still starting him and letting him play for the full match.

The Celtic manager is certain that it’s just a blip, and Kyogo will be back in top form in no time. Speaking live on Premier Sports after the match, the manager said;

“Like all strikers, they love scoring goals.

“He’s just going through one of those patches when he’s hitting the post instead of the ball going in. I’m sure getting that one today will make him feel good but it doesn’t change how I think he’s playing.

“I think he’s playing well. He’s getting himself into the right areas. If he keeps doing that, and faith in what he believes in, the goals will come.”

While it was good to see Kyogo on the scoresheet today, it’s worrying the number of chances he’s missing at the moment.

Not being clinical has been Celtic’s downfall in Europe, and while there is no individual player to blame for this, it does have to change.

Celtic play Shakhtar next in the Champions League, and if they want to keep their European dreams alive, they must win against the side and look to take a point in Madrid. It’s not an easy task, but it will certainly boost Celtic’s chances if the attacking players are on form.
