Kyogo Injury Latest – Celtic Star A Doubt For Premiership Return

Celtic star Kyogo Furuhashi is a doubt for the Hoops return to Scottish Premiership action on Monday as Ange Postecoglou’s squad prepare to take on Hibernian.

The 26-year old has been struggling with a hamstring injury sustained in the final group game of the Europa League against Real Betis. But, since then, he has also featured in the Premier Sports Cup final against Hibs and in the boxing day fixture against St Johnstone, where he further agitated the injury.

According to Sun Sport, the Japanese internationalist is now a doubt for Monday nights return to action after missing training in recent weeks and also the bounce fixture against St Mirren.

The reported starting line-up from that bounce game could give some sort of indication as to who could start up front in his place, with new signing Daizen Maeda expected to be the man playing through the middle.

Depending on the seriousness of the injury, if Kyogo was to continue missing out on action, it could also rule him out of an international call-up with Japan towards the end of the month. However, it remains to be seen how severe the injury might be.

Of course, having Kyogo missing will be a blow to the squad, given his impressive performances and impact in the first half of the campaign. However, with the new additions and players returning from injury, the side definitely feels better suited with more options this side of the window.
