Kyogo Explains the Reasons Behind His Pre-season Form

Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi has been on fire in pre-season, netting four goals in just two games.

The Japanese frontman netted from the spot against Ayr last Friday before bagging a hat-trick at the City Stadium midweek.

Kyogo is hungry for more, and recently explained how he has hit the ground running in the new season.

“I feel sharp but there’s no secret”, he said (RecordSport).

“I didn’t do anything over the summer. The reason I can score now is because there has been a lot of tough training so far. That is why I have been able to get going quickly – but there is more to come.

“I’m just focusing on improving my condition right now, I’ve not yet set any goal targets for the season.”

Last time out, Kyogo bagged 19 goals across 50 games in all competitions. He was the only Celtic player to appear in every match for the club in 2023/24.

He appears to have gotten over the injury issues he experienced during his first few years in Glasgow. Kyogo was never consistently fit under Ange Postecoglou but remained a key figure in the Australian’s side.

Current Parkhead boss Brendan Rodgers has been previously criticised for not getting the best out of the striker, but if he keeps up at his current goalscoring rate throughout the new season, such reproval will become void.
