Celtic’s Japanese striker Kyogo has penned a new four-year contract with the Hoops last month, expressing his gratitude for the warm reception he has received from the Scottish club’s fans.

His commitment comes on the back of a strong pre-season performance.
In an interview with Japanese media, and as quoted by Football Scotland, Kyogo highlighted the welcoming nature of the Celtic community. “The good thing about Celtic is that the people are really warm. They accept us, Japanese people from a foreign country. Even if you are driving, you will be greeted with a horn from another car,” he said.
The player also recounted a memorable experience at a café where a worker stopped serving to take a picture with him. Such interactions, he explained, have only made him more passionate about his role at the club.
“The stadiums are all frenetic. Everyone from children to the elderly will support you with a tremendous amount of passion. I am grateful that the club needed me enough to sign a new contract. I’m glad that my hard work was appreciated,” he added.
Kyogo thanked his teammates and those who supported him throughout his journey, crediting them for his individual success. Looking ahead, he committed to helping the team win the title once again by scoring as many goals as possible.
The forward noted that in order to meet this goal, he would have to maintain a strict focus on his own performance, as this is the best way to repay the club and its supporters. He concluded, “I can only repay the club and the people around me through football.”
