Kyogo Breaks Record Without Kicking a Ball for Rennes

Kyogo Furuhashi may have left Celtic, but he’s still making history—without even kicking a ball.

His £10 million move to Rennes has set a new benchmark, making him the most expensive player over the age of 26 to transfer to one of Europe’s top five leagues without prior experience at that level. [MailSport]

The Japanese forward leaves behind an impressive legacy at Celtic, having won multiple trophies and cementing his status as a fan favourite with his incredible goal record.

He could be in line for his debut with the Ligue 1 club this weekend, with the relegation-battling side hosting Strasbourg.

The visitors sit 7 places above Rennes in the table, with a win a step in the right direction and could see them leave the relegation zone. Maybe Kyogo’s goals can prove pivotal.

His departure leaves a significant gap in Brendan Rodgers’ squad, with Celtic now working hard to find a worthy replacement before the transfer window closes.

Celtic have been linked to a few strikers, and do have Daizen Maeda who arrived in Glasgow as a striker and plays for his national side through the middle.

One of the players Celtic have been monitoring is Mathias Kvistgaarden, but the selling club, Brondy, have slapped a £14 million demand on their striker.
