Kristoffer Ajer was not in the squad at Pittodrie on Wednesday night as the bhoys played out a 1-1 draw with Aberdeen.
There was surprise to see Nir Bitton in the starting line up with the Norwegian nowhere to be seen.
Kennedy confirmed Ajer’s injured status and revealed the defender played through the injury during the 2-0 defeat to The Rangers at the weekend.
“He’s ok. He hurt his shoulder during the game and managed to get through it.” Kennedy told Glasgow Live.
“For a couple of days, he was a little tender so no need to risk him tonight.
“He’s played loads of games this season”
There’s only three games left this season and unless there’s a change of heart by the centre-back, he will leave in this summer’s exodus.
Ajer could sign a one-year deal in a Stuart Armstrong type move. It would help Celtic get through the rebuild and allow Kris to move on for a fee next year.
Given his desire to move on, it doesn’t seem likely.
Celtic were lucky to get a point in the defender’s absence. Aberdeen were pegged back at the death by Leigh Griffiths who will now likely push for a start at Ibrox in an attempt to gate crash the Euro’s.
