Kristoffer Ajer Breaks Celtic Transfer Silence

KRISTOFFER AJER has tried to put end to the talk of his eventual transfer from Celtic for now with his comments while away on international duty.

The Norwegian admits to knowing there was a lot of interest in him over the summer but with a move not materialising, he’s happy to come out after the window to state he hasn’t rushed a move.

It feels like a lifetime ago since Ajer’s previous agent dropped the bombshell the defender would not be signing a new deal with the club. Since then, the centre-back has changed to a large agency and while there has been strong interest, Celtic made it clear nobody was going anywhere this season and they were true to their word.

As Ajer comments, this is a big season for Celtic and had we not been chasing history, we would have been more receptive to bids for some of our top players.

As it stands, we need all hands on deck to try and break the Lisbon lions nine in a row record and go one better.

Speaking to RecordSport, Ajer says he’s looking forward to the rest of the season.

“Clearly there was a lot of interest but I have huge respect for the club I’m at.

“I have a year and a half left on my contract and the club has given me an incredible amount.

“I came to the club as an attacking midfielder and I’ve gone on to play 150 games, and play for a club that means so much to so many.

“I haven’t rushed to move on. This is a really important season for the club and I’m looking forward to it.”
