Kris Boyd’s Surprise Celtic Verdict Ages Perfectly

Former Rangers striker and Ibrox cheerleader Kris Boyd raised eyebrows back in September with a bold prediction towards Celtic. But the former striker surprised many when he predicted Brendan Rodgers’ side would cruise to the title, even while most were still sizing up the new-look squad.

At the time, Celtic had opened the Premiership campaign with four wins from four, including a dominant 3-0 performance in their final match before the first international break. Rangers, by contrast, had already slipped up with two wins, a draw, and a defeat from their opening four fixtures. Boyd, ever blunt, didn’t mince his words — and as it turns out, he didn’t miss either.

Celtic went on to win the league with four games to spare, finishing 17 points clear of their Glasgow rivals. It was a campaign marked by consistency, strength in depth, and moments of genuine quality across the pitch. Boyd’s words, perhaps dismissed at the time by some on both sides, proved to be on the money.

Brendan Rodgers’ second brought structure and steel, with the likes of Reo Hatate, Daizen Maeda, and Callum McGregor setting the tone. From the backline to the final third, Celtic managed the season with control and authority for the most part, rarely showing signs of any title race at all.

He said: (Sky Sports), “Even I’ve been impressed by the way Celtic have started the season and that takes a lot for me to say that!

“I just get the feeling they’re going to have too much. The business they’ve done, they’re strong enough and they will win the league by a good few points.”

Rodgers’ men never looked back, dispatching teams with efficiency and holding their nerve when it mattered. Winning the title with four games to spare is no fluke — it’s a sign of total control. While many didn’t see such a wide gap coming, Boyd evidently did.

In the world of Scottish football punditry, where bias often overshadows insight, Boyd’s prediction stands out. It wasn’t flattery — it was foresight. And when the final whistle blew on the season, it was his words ringing truest of all.

It’s not often a Rangers voice calls a Celtic title win so clearly, but Boyd’s words have stood the test of time. Whether through gritted teeth or not, he saw the signs early — and they played out exactly as he suggested.

Celtic didn’t just win the league — they ran away with it. Boyd might not enjoy being reminded, but his prediction was bang on. In a season where Rodgers’ men left no doubt, even their fiercest rivals could see what was coming.
