Well, well, well, if it isn’t our favourite Rangers pundit, Kris Boyd, suddenly singing praises for none other than Chris Sutton.
Yes, you read that right, folks. The same Chris Sutton who has been a thorn in the side of the blue half of Glasgow for years. The same Chris Sutton who was banned from Ibrox last season for his unapologetic and brutally honest punditry. And now, it seems, Boyd has developed a sudden admiration for Sutton. Isn’t that just adorable?
Boyd, in a recent interview, told Football Scotland, “At Sky, we strive to get the best people on TV and I think that’s what we’ve done. There is no doubt that Chris Sutton, for me, is one of the best pundits of recent times.” Oh, Kris, you’re making us blush! It’s almost as if you’re trying to butter up Sutton ahead of the new SPFL season.
Boyd continued, “A lot of people might be surprised by what I am saying. There will be people who don’t want to tune in and listen to anything he says, but, having listened to some of the stuff Chris has said in England, I could easily sit and listen to him. He is brilliant.”
Brilliant, eh? That’s quite a leap, Kris. It’s almost as if you’re hoping that by praising Sutton, he might go easy on you this season. But let’s not forget; this is Chris Sutton we’re talking about. The man who doesn’t pull his punches, especially when it comes to challenging the wild punditry of certain individuals (ahem, Kris).
Boyd then went on to say, “You can’t turn up and say Rangers have been brilliant for the last 10 or 12 years and won plenty of trophies because it’s a lie. You would make yourself look like a fool. The big man knows exactly what he is doing with some things. There is no getting away from it.”
Well, Kris, we couldn’t agree more. It’s refreshing to see you finally acknowledging the truth. But let’s not forget, it’s not just about saying the right things; it’s about doing the right things too. And we all know that Sutton won’t let you get away with anything less.
So, as we gear up for the new SPFL season, it’s going to be interesting to see how this newfound bromance between Boyd and Sutton pans out. Will Boyd continue to sing Sutton’s praises? Or will he revert to his old ways once the season kicks off? Only time will tell.
And speaking of kicking off, the SPFL season begins this Saturday when the Bhoys take on Ross County. The bhoys are back with Brendan Rodgers in what promises to be another incredible season. We would expect the two to be in the studio at Celtic Park for the opener, because Kris can get into Celtic’s stadium without any issue.
