Scotland’s European Championships got off to the worst possible start on Friday as they were thumped 5-1 in Munich by hosts Germany.
Steve Clarke got his tactical set-up wrong, and changes must be made ahead of a crunch clash with the Swiss on Wednesday night.

Ibrox cheerleader Kris Boyd recently banged the drum for Celtic hero James Forrest to get a look-in for the Scots’ second group clash, but he also made a surprising admission about another Parkhead star.
Hoops skipper Callum McGregor came in for vast criticism for his performance at the Allianz on Friday. Graeme Souness was bitter in his condemnation of the 31-year-old while Roy Keane stuck the boot in the midfielder.
Boyd, though, doesn’t think he should be dropped for Wednesday’s game and instead, be given more support in a deeper role than what he was against Germany.
He said (The Scottish Sun) “Gilmour would have helped Callum McGregor, who looked completely out of sorts in midfield.
“Against the Swiss, I’d revert to McGregor and Gilmour as the deep midfielders, with McTominay and John McGinn ahead of them.
“But whoever plays, we (Scotland) need to get back to the type of performance that got us to these finals.”
Some big calls lie ahead for Steve Clarke this week. Scotland’s Euro hopes hang in the balance after just one game, and the former Kilmarnock boss has to get it right.
There was an overwhelming sense of optimism about the country last week, but that could swiftly fade should things not go the way of the Tartan Army over the next few days.
