In a rare endorsement from a former Rangers man, Kris Boyd has named Celtic winger Nicolas Kuhn as his early choice for Player of the Year, citing the German’s standout displays in both the Scottish Premiership and the Champions League.

Kuhn’s form has been a revelation this season, making him one of the league’s most exciting players and a key figure in Brendan Rodgers’ setup.
His 21 goals and assists already in the SPFL have attracted interest from the Premier League.
Speaking to SunSport, Boydy waxed lyrical on the winger on the back of his goal vs. Kilmarnock.
“The real moment of class in the game was by Nicolas Kuhn to get away. Maybe an experienced defender like Robbie Deas should probably have just taken one for the team there, fouled him, and pulled him back because you know as soon as he’s the other side of you, it’s very difficult to get back when somebody’s travelling at that speed the other side of the box.
“Once he gets away, his touch across David Watson and then to fire it away in the far corner. You’ve got to say, if there was to be a player of the year named right now, he hands down has been exceptional for Celtic and caused everybody problems.
“Not only in the Scottish Premiership, we saw him dismantle Aberdeen last week, but also in the Champions League as well. From where he was last season to where he is now is night and day, he was outstanding.”
With consistent performances across competitions and a clear growth trajectory, the 24-year-old German has undoubtedly emerged as a leading candidate for end-of-season honours, showing the potential to cement his name as one of Celtic’s top players this season.
After a slow start to life at Celtic, he’s kicked on now.
Kuhn has somewhat eased the departure of Matt O’Riley, it’s fair to say. The Dane brought a lot of goals and assists to Celtic last season, but the German winger is set to smash the numbers that he put up.
January is probably too soon for a move, thankfully, but if he keeps up his form, summer could be a tough time to keep hold of him.
