Brendan Rodgers’ recent criticism of Celtic fans has ignited fierce debate between fans, following his post-match comments about groans over backpasses and chants for Kieran Tierney during the weekend win.

While some supporters have labelled the manager’s remarks as over-the-top, others agree with his point, albeit delivered at the wrong time.
However, former Rangers player Kris Boyd has predictably seized the moment to stir the pot, calling on Celtic fans to “be on their best behaviour” for tonight’s match against Dundee United.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Boyd cheekily said:
“The fans better not be singing about past managers or past players, that will upset Brendan Rodgers again.”
Rodgers’ comments, specifically calling chants for Tierney “disrespectful” to current left-back Greg Taylor, have left some supporters feeling the manager was wrong to call them out publicly. Others argue he’s simply asking for focus and respect for the current squad.
Boyd’s comments, designed to provoke rather than analyse, reflect the predictable media tactic of inflating tensions.
Celtic supporters have already shown they can put differences aside. After all, Rodgers faced scepticism upon his return but quickly turned the focus back to football after a cup and league double upon his return.
While Rodgers’ remarks might not have landed perfectly, they don’t appear to have caused the level of division Boyd is implying.
