KIERAN TIERNEY’S Arsenal is flying at the moment, the only Premier League to have a perfect start, with Manchester City drawing with Newcastle on Sunday. The Gunners are top of the league and have a favourable run of fixtures over the next few weeks.
The former Celtic full-back didn’t quite make the start of the season, still recovering from the season-ending injury he sustained in March.
The Scotland International hasn’t forgotten his Celtic days, though. He was asked on Toppersgolf who the best player he’d played beside was, and he named his former captain Scott Brown.
“Best player I have played with? Give me a second.
“Best player I have played with is Scott Brown. 100 per cent as like a whole football player.
“A leader, a legend in the changing room, on and off the park.
“Most influential player by far.”
Considering the top players surrounding KT just now, with the likes of Saka, Jesus and Odegaard lining up beside him weekly, it was surprising to read he’d named Scott Brown.
Brown was a brilliant leader and had a great bond with the academy graduate, but he wasn’t technically gifted like other stars Kieran had played alongside.
But Scott Brown did just have that something unique about him; that’s he’s a Celtic legend and loved by the fans.
